Camden
“The Jewel of the Maine Coast”
Nestled on Penobscot Bay with Mt. Battie upward to the west, Camden is where the mountains meet the sea. Originally a village called Megunticook by the Abenaki Indians, Camden is now the Jewel of the Maine Coast. Settled in the 1770s and incorporated in 1791, Camden was a thriving shipbuilding town. Historic buildings, picturesque streets, churches and quaint shops and restaurants give a feeling of stepping back in time. Camden is a vibrant year-round community with a population of over 5000 which swells in the summer months. Camden is a unique place with scenic beauty and much to entertain visitors and residents.
